Gender Pay Report

5th April 2018

A Clarke & Co (Smethwick) Ltd have prepared this report, as required by law, under the Equality Act 2010 (Gender Pay Gap Information) Regulations 2017.

The figures are calculated using a snapshot date of 5th April 2017.

Established in 1933, A Clarke & Co are a family run business and are one of the leading privately owned multi-service transport organisations in the UK. On the snapshot date, 429 workers were categorised as "relevant employees" with the gender mix of the population as 13.5% female and 86.5% male.

As with most haulage/transport organisations, the nature of the industry is heavily male weighted, and although gender pay gaps exist this does not necessarily mean equal pay issues are present. A 2017 Freight Transport Association (FTA) report on the logistics sector confirms that the logistics industry is dominated by 86.9% of male workers, although there has been a small increase in the proportion of women in the logistics professions over recent years.
